Quick Apologies and Warm Thank Yous

Sorry I’ve been off of my blog for a while. I’ve been pretty busy with Wattpad and vacation. But I’m just here to apologize and say thanks. @Lottie777 (from Wattpad), visited my site, then told me that it was greatly organized and that she enjoyed it! Thank you soooooooooooooooooooo much! This blog began tiny and it’s still small, but I love it! I’ve wanted to make one for a while now, but I didn’t think any of these sites to make blogs were good, but of course I found WordPress! Any way, @Lottie777 continued on to say that I would become an author. That touches me, very much! I want to be one very much! Thanks for everything!
Anyway, I want to do a request like thing. I would like you guys to leave me a comment saying what you would like for me to write about. Here are some questions to help:

  • Should I create more tabs?
  • Do I need to delete any tabs?
  • Which tabs do I need to be more active on?
  • What should I blog about?
  • Should I focus more on writing or reading?
  • Or equally on both?
  • What do I need to add??????????

Thanks for your opinions and here’s the link to this blog to share:

And to thank @Lottie777 for their support, here is the link to their account on wattpad, please check it out:

Summer Poetry Contest

Well, I’m back after a while. Sorry about not updating very often, I was (again) busy with Wattpad and my story there. Anyway- enough chit-chat, I have something to share with you fellow bright minded writers, bloggers and readers.

I have decided to create a contest!!!

This will be the first contest I have created on WordPress.

Here is how it will go:

This is a short poetry contest. Your poetry can be free verse to haiku. Any kind is accepted. It needs to be under 12 lines and here’s the catch. It has to be about…

That’s right, a 12 line, any kind poem about summer. All you have to do is write it, then post it in the comments part of this blog post. I will read it then share the winner on June 05, 2015 (or around that time). At least three people need to enter. So tell your friends and family about this blog, share it!

It’s www.iowareadsandwrites.wordpress.com

Tell it to as many people you can! Ok, back on topic. The contest.

The first (and only winner) place winner will receive a dedication on my blog and Wattpad (if they gave an account). And I will give their story 2 votes on Wattpad (again, if they have a story and account).

The prizes are subject to changing due to non-Wattpaders.

Enjoy the contest and

Summer’s Arise

Well, the January’s days of winter are over.

February’s toasty fire place hours are done.

March’s bitter weather is through.

April’s indecisive weather is gone.

And now…

May’s fresh start of summer.

Like they say,

“April showers bring May flowers!”

Maybe it’s true. April was full of days of warmth and flowers and plenty of days of frowning, rainy days. Those days are thankfully over. We can now appreciate the flowers, bugs, plants and more. We can start saying,

“It really is summer now, summer has begun!”

Summer is also full of ideas and inspiration. You can get plenty of ideas from just looking outside. Summer had ideas, growth, inspiration and new beginnings.

I want to hear your poems, short stories and novels. Comment previews or just comment your whole story. In fact- I’ll even write a poem. If you go to the poetry page on this blog, you can find examples of poems from season changes. Go ahead, set your spark and write!

Here is my poem on summer coming:

The wind calls out a breeze sweeps down

Brush the grass and nourish the seeds

Calm the alley cats down by the streets

Return the waves to the sea shore

Give back the sunny days of out door play

The golden days of lemonade are back

The golden weeks of barbecue are back

The golden months of fireflies darting through the night

Are back

Summer arose

It’s back

For sure

Well, that was my poem. I hope you enjoy.

And remember to share your poems and works of art.

You can finally arise summer and we can finally say,
“Summer has officially kicked off!”

Checking Back In

Hello their fellow readers, bloggers, writers and people who are just visiting this site:

I am so sorry I haven’t been updating for a while. I have been busy on WATTPAD (my username is @iowareadsandwrites). I have created a story on there (www.wattpad.com) that is a guide to writing. I made sure that the blog and the story worked well together as “partners“. I hope you enjoy the story and forgive me that I didn’t update. I also have the app: POCKET WRITERS. My username is also @iowareadsandwrites. Please follow, vote, comment and like my stories on both apps.

On that note, I have some news. Some of you (I hope most of you), know the author Dori Hillestad Butler. She wrote some children’s novel such as the Do You Know the Monkey Man series and some other novels. I met her today, in fact I’m going to say some things she explained to us.

  • She got rejected by publishers over 900 times
  • She got $365.00 dollars for getting her worked published at young age in a magazine
  • It takes about 4 years to get a picture book published
  • Inspiration is not where you work or in one sitting. It’s outside- get up and explore

She explained to us the process of getting published and how long it took. Butler also showed us about how much each person got. For example, if a book sold for $15.00 dollars, the publisher would get more than the author. The author only got $0.50 cents!

― Mark TwainThe Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain
William Faulkner

“Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it.
Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window.”
― William Faulkner

Cassandra Clare

“We live and breathe words. …. It was books that made me feel that perhaps I was not completely alone. They could be honest with me, and I with them. Reading your words, what you wrote, how you were lonely sometimes and afraid, but always brave; the way you saw the world, its colors and textures and sounds, I felt–I felt the way you thought, hoped, felt, dreamt. I felt I was dreaming and thinking and feeling with you. I dreamed what you dreamed, wanted what you wanted–and then I realized that truly I just wanted you.”
